The New Dishwasher...

O.k., when Matt installed the new dishwasher this past summer, this isn't really what I had in mind. Nanook extends his tongue as far out as it can possibly go and tries to clean the dishes to the best of his ability. Just in case you wonder, we do run the dishwasher after he "cleans" the dishes.

A Cake for Lili

I made this cake today for the daughter of a woman that I work with. It is a lot like one I made last summer. I think it turned out a bit better. Fun, fun! Happy Birthday, Lili!

Go Fly A Kite!

A blustery day in the hundred-acre wood. Look, Grandma Sue and
Grandpa Bob, we are still flying the kite that you brought back from the
Oregon coast a few years ago. The park across the street is the perfect place to fly a kit. No power lines. You can tell by looking at Nanook, that
it was a very, very windy day! We had a great time.

Women's Retreat

This past weekend, the ladies from our church went to Logan, UT, for our annual Women's retreat. It was a wonderful time. Our speaker was Gloria Bagley. She was a real blessing, and the Lord used her to speak to the hearts of the women there. On Friday night, she did a one-woman play called "Sybil Slob and Friends." It was about the "opposite of the fruit of the spirit" roles that women in churches everywhere, play. She hit the nail on the head with all of them.

There was so much good stuff to take away and apply to my life. What really was made clear to me was the FACT that God is I AM in my life. I, Kristi, am totally inadequate, insufficient, incapable, etc., on my own. But God, is I AM. Here is a saying that Gloria shared with us. The first quote being first person, and the second from God.

No one is trustworthy anymore. I AM
Everyone is against me. No one is for me. I AM
I’m not strong enough. I AM
I’m not smart enough. I AM
I’m not in control anymore. I AM
I’m so tired of taking care of others. I need someone to take care of me. I AM
I’m not able to come up with the money to pay these bills. I AM
I’m not adequate to say “NO” to this addiction. I AM
I need someone to tell me what to do. I AM
No one is interested in understanding me. I AM
I need a close, faithful friend. I AM
I need someone to hear my cries and help me. I AM
I’m not sure why I’m here. I AM
Someone please help me. I AM

That just touched my heart. So many times I fool myself into believing that I can do it all on my own. Unfortunately, it has taken emotional break-downs to realize that I am not and to surrender everything that I feel I HAVE to take care of, to God. God is so good. I am so thankful to Him for all He does and for the way that He carries me. Praise Him! Praise His Holy name!

I tried to put the character's names by them, but when I publish the blog, it messes it all up. So from top to bottom and left to right they are...Militant Millicent, Tillie Tell-It, Ellie Excuse, Hattie Holier-Than-Thou, Sybil Slob, Beatrice Bitter, Constance Criticism, Wanda Worrier and Fontana Fulfillment.

Gloria did such a great job of putting on display a fashion show of all of the women in every church in America that we SHOULD NOT be! It was fun to watch her and good to have our eyes opened.

New Miscellaneous...

To the right are a few pictures of Garrett modeling a Lego helmet that he designed and built. It never ceases to amaze me, the things that he imagines in his head and how he can go to his room, dump out his Legos, and before you know it, out he comes with his new creation!

The castle cake I did recently for a baby shower. It was the first
opportunity I have had to make this cake since I received the cake
pan from one of Matt's co-workers last summer. Next time I make it, I will have more contrasting colors.

A visit from family

It has been VERY busy around here, so I am just getting around to posting about my in-laws' visit a few weeks ago. They came with Ashley, Alex, and Nikki, our nieces and nephew. Garrett and Olivia always look forward to and thoroughly enjoy these visits. They absolutely cherish
time spent with their cousins. They love to dress up and act out plays.

We really enjoyed having them come visit. I love my mother and father-in-law very much and am so thankful to have a good relationship with them.

We celebrated Olivia's birthday, again, while they were here. That is the reason for the second cake. :)
