Snow Day

I happened mid-morning. The kids were doing school and I was busy instructing them and doing things around the house. I looked up and out the window to see the snow coming down. It was so beautiful. I love that "snowglobe" feeling, like someone shook up the snowglobe around us and the snow comes sifting down out of the sky.

So, the object of the day was to get school done so that the kids could go out and sled in the back yard. The mailman knocked on the door bearing packages from Phoenix. In the package was a coat for Nanook from Grandma Sue and Grandpa Scott Leeper. As you can see, it fits him perfectly! I put his "snow booties" on and out the door he waddled in to the snow. Too cute!

Olivia made a snow angel. She and Garrett really enjoyed their time outside. Oh, the joys of winter!

Olivia's Basketball Game

Olivia is in her second year of basketball. Yesterday they won their game by 2 points! It was a very intense game that had me on the edge of my seat for the whole second half. The girls came ahead from behind. Toward the end, two of our girls were fowled on and had to shoot free throws. One girl made both of her shots and the other made one of the two. It was such a good game! Matt is assistant coaching this year. He seems to be having a lot of fun with it!

Santa Claus Cake

Last summer, Dena, a woman from Matt's work, hit the cake decorating jackpot at a yard sale! She bought me a bunch of cake pans. This was one of the cake pans that she bought. I really wanted to bake and decorate this cake this Christmas, but didn't feel it was appropriate to make for our "Happy Birthday, Jesus," cake. So...I just made it and sent it to work with Matt. It turned out real well and was a lot of fun to decorate. The hardest part is cutting into it when after you are all done decorating! It was yummy though!
